About this gold chart
The price is spot gold against the US dollar: one troy ounce of pure gold. It is live spot gold, updated every few seconds, and our own recorder keeps every minute of it. The history goes back to January 2018, so the Max view shows gold's whole run since then.
The chart keeps gold's real hours: nothing at weekends and nothing in the daily pause, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. New York time. It is the spot price itself, not a futures contract. When it opens and closes in your time zone: gold's market hours.

What is the gold price today?
The live price is at the top of this page, in US dollars for one troy ounce of pure gold. It moves while the market is open, from Sunday 6:00 p.m. to Friday 5:00 p.m. New York time, and stands still at weekends.
How much is 1 gram of gold?
One troy ounce is 31.1035 grams, so a gram of pure gold costs the ounce price divided by 31.1035. The converter on this page does it live, for 22K, 21K and 18K gold too.
What is XAUUSD?
The price of one troy ounce of gold in US dollars. XAU is gold's currency code and USD the US dollar, so XAU/USD is what spot gold is quoted as.
Why does the gold chart have gaps?
Gold does not trade at weekends or in its one-hour daily pause, so there are no candles there. The chart steps over them, the way a broker's chart does.
