About this Bitcoin chart

Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency. Its network started in January 2009, set up by someone using the name Satoshi Nakamoto, and no more than 21 million BTC will ever exist. The reward for each new block halves every 210,000 blocks, about once every four years, and one bitcoin splits into 100 million satoshis.

The price on this page is Hyperliquid's BTC perpetual in US dollars. A perpetual has no expiry date; funding, settled every hour between long and short holders, keeps it close to the spot price. Each tab is a timeframe with about 150 candles, so the 1-hour tab covers a little over six days and the 1-day tab about five months.

Bitcoin never closes for the weekend, so the chart runs without gaps. The tiles show the 24-hour range, the 52-week range, the change since 1 January, and the funding rate beside open interest.

Questions and answers

Is there a free Bitcoin live chart?

Yes, this page. It shows BTC/USD candles from 1 minute to 1 day, the newest one moving live. The full chart behind the button is free too, with no card.

Does Bitcoin trade on weekends?

Yes. Bitcoin trades every hour of every day, so the candles run through Saturday and Sunday with no gaps. Only the session highs and lows below come from weekdays.

Where does the Bitcoin price on this page come from?

From Hyperliquid's BTC perpetual, a market priced in US dollars that never expires. Funding settled every hour keeps it close to the spot price of Bitcoin.

What is the funding rate on this page?

A payment between traders holding the perpetual long and short, settled every hour on Hyperliquid. When the rate is positive, longs pay shorts; when it is negative, shorts pay longs. The tile shows it next to open interest, the size of all positions still open.

How many bitcoins will there ever be?

21 million. About every four years the reward for a new block halves, so new coins arrive more slowly until the last ones are mined, expected around 2140.

Can I add indicators to the Bitcoin chart?

Yes, in the full chart behind the button. It has 129 built-in indicators, drawing tools, replay and alerts, free with no card.
