About this silver chart
The price is live spot silver against the US dollar, XAG/USD: one troy ounce, updated every few seconds. Our recorder keeps every minute of it for the day and week views, and the longer views go back to the first day of our silver history.
Silver keeps the same hours as gold: Sunday 6:00 p.m. to Friday 5:00 p.m. New York time, with a one-hour pause from 5:00 p.m. each day, so the chart has no weekend candles. The gold to silver ratio is the gold price divided by the silver price, worked out in your browser from the two live prices.

The live price is at the top of this page, in US dollars for one troy ounce. It moves while the market is open, from Sunday 6:00 p.m. to Friday 5:00 p.m. New York time, and stands still at weekends.
Is the silver market open now?
The line beside XAG/USD at the top says so, and counts down to the next open, close or daily pause on your clock. On weekdays silver trades for 23 hours, with a break from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. New York time.
What is XAGUSD?
The price of one troy ounce of silver in US dollars. XAG is silver's currency code and USD the US dollar, so XAG/USD is what spot silver is quoted as.
How much is 1 gram of silver?
A troy ounce is 31.1035 grams, so a gram of silver costs the ounce price divided by 31.1035. The converter on this page does it live, for 925 sterling silver too.
What is the gold to silver ratio?
How many ounces of silver one ounce of gold buys: the gold price divided by the silver price. The tile under the chart works it out live from the two prices.
