About this Ethereum chart

Ethereum is a blockchain that runs programs, called smart contracts, and ether (ETH) is the coin that pays for them: every transaction costs a fee in ETH, known as gas. The network went live on 30 July 2015, from a design Vitalik Buterin published in 2013, and in September 2022 it moved from mining to proof of stake in an upgrade called the Merge.

This page shows Hyperliquid's ETH perpetual in US dollars, with two decimals. It has no expiry, and funding settled every hour holds it near the spot price. Pick a timeframe tab and you get about 150 candles: two and a half hours on the 1-minute tab, 25 days on the 4-hour tab.

Ether trades all week, weekends included. The tiles show the 24-hour range, the 52-week range, the change this year, and the funding rate with open interest.

Questions and answers

Is there a free ETH live chart?

Yes, this one. Candles from 1 minute to 1 day, the funding rate and the sessions on your clock, free with no card, like the full chart behind the button.

What is the difference between Ethereum and ether?

Ethereum is the network; ether, ETH, is its coin. People use both names for the price, and this chart follows ETH in US dollars.

Where does the ETH price here come from?

From Hyperliquid's ETH perpetual, priced in US dollars. Perpetuals have no expiry date, and hourly funding between longs and shorts keeps them close to the spot price.

What does open interest mean on this page?

The total size of ETH perpetual positions still open on Hyperliquid. It rises when new positions open and falls when they close, and the tile shows it beside the hourly funding rate.

Which timeframes does this Ethereum chart have?

1 minute, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours and 1 day, about 150 candles each. So the 1-day tab reaches back about five months.

Can I draw on the ETH chart?

Yes, in the full chart. It opens on ETH/USD with drawing tools, 129 built-in indicators, replay and alerts, free with no card.
