About this Litecoin chart
Litecoin is one of the oldest cryptocurrencies still traded. Charlie Lee released it in October 2011, built from Bitcoin's code with a block every 2.5 minutes instead of 10 and a cap of 84 million coins, four times Bitcoin's. Its block reward halves every 840,000 blocks, about every four years.
The price here is Hyperliquid's LTC perpetual in US dollars, two decimals on the price and one on the axis. It never expires, and funding settled every hour keeps it near the spot price. Each timeframe tab holds about 150 candles, and Litecoin trades through every weekend.

How is Litecoin different from Bitcoin?
It started from Bitcoin's code in 2011 but makes a block every 2.5 minutes, mines with a different method called Scrypt, and caps at 84 million coins against Bitcoin's 21 million.
When does Litecoin halve?
Every 840,000 blocks, about once every four years. The last one, in August 2023, cut the block reward from 12.5 to 6.25 LTC.
