US PCE release dates

What it is
The personal consumption expenditures price index tracks what US households pay, across a wider basket than CPI. The Fed states its 2% inflation goal in PCE terms. It comes out in the Personal Income and Outlays report from the Bureau of Economic Analysis, near the end of the following month.
Why crypto traders watch it
CPI arrives first, so PCE is often close to expected by the time it lands, and the market move is usually smaller. It still matters when it differs from what CPI implied, or when it lands right before an FOMC meeting. The 29 October release comes one day after the October Fed decision.
Release time in India
BEA releases the report at 8:30 a.m. ET: 6:00 p.m. IST on 29 October, then 7:00 p.m. IST on 25 November and 23 December.
If the US government shuts down
BLS and BEA stop publishing when US government funding lapses, and their dates move. As of 30 September 2026, federal agencies are funded through 11 December 2026 under H.R. 6500, the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2027, signed on 2 September 2026 (White House statement). The October and November releases fall inside that window. The PCE release on 23 December falls after it, so watch for a new funding deal before then. In the shutdown that began on 1 October 2025, the September 2025 jobs report came out on 20 November instead of early October.

When is the next PCE release?
The August 2026 release is due on Wed, 30 Sep 2026, 8:30 a.m. ET, which is Wed, 30 Sep 2026, 6:00 p.m. IST, per the BEA release schedule.
What is the difference between PCE and CPI?
Both measure US inflation. PCE covers a wider basket and weights it differently, and it is the measure behind the Fed's 2% target. CPI comes out first each month.
Is the 23 December PCE date safe?
Not yet. Federal funding runs through 11 December 2026. If it lapses after that, BEA stops publishing and the date would move.
