XAUUSD market open time in India: gold's trading hours in IST

Gold (XAUUSD) opens on Monday at 3:30 AM Indian time and trades until Saturday at 2:30 AM, with a one-hour pause from 2:30 to 3:30 AM on the nights between. From 2 November 2026 each of those times moves an hour later, because the US changes its clocks and India does not.

Gold's week in Indian time

Every time here is IST. They are the hours of gold futures on CME Globex, which trade from Sunday to Friday, 6:00 PM to 5:00 PM in New York, with a 60-minute break each day at 5:00 PM (CME's gold contract page). Spot gold at a broker keeps the same week. Brokers pick their own opening time, though, and some start up to an hour apart, so read the hours on your own platform once.

Example: it is Saturday 17 October 2026, 10:00 AM in Mumbai, and you want to place a trade. Gold shut at 2:30 AM that morning. It opens on Monday 19 October at 3:30 AM, which is 41 hours and 30 minutes away.

What about the weekend price?

Spot gold has no weekend price. From Saturday 2:30 AM to Monday 3:30 AM the market is shut, and the price on your screen is Friday's last one.

What does trade is the gold perpetual, a contract on crypto exchanges that runs all seven days. Pravex charts Binance's gold perpetual as well. It is a separate market that can drift from spot gold while the real one is shut. Read it as the weekend's mood. Monday's first price is set when the market opens at 3:30 AM.

The clock change on 1 November 2026

India keeps one clock all year and the US does not. US clocks go back an hour on Sunday 1 November 2026, so from Monday 2 November gold opens at 4:30 AM IST, pauses at 3:30 AM and shuts on Saturday at 3:30 AM. It stays that way until the US moves its clocks forward on 14 March 2027. The status on the Pravex gold chart follows both changes by itself.

If you mean MCX gold

Gold futures on MCX trade Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM. The close is 11:30 PM until 30 October 2026 and 11:55 PM from Monday 2 November, for the same US clock change (MCX circular 550 of 2026, in Zerodha's bulletin of 30 September 2026).

MCX is shut for more than nine hours every night while gold abroad keeps trading. That is why MCX gold so often opens away from where it closed. A world gold chart shows you what happened in between, and the one on Pravex is free.

Holidays

Gold does not trade on Christmas Day, Friday 25 December 2026, or on New Year's Day, Friday 1 January 2027. The sessions around them run short, and so does the one around US Thanksgiving on 26 November 2026. CME fixes the exact holiday hours about two weeks ahead and posts them on its holiday calendar.
