Worked example
You put $1,000 into Ether at an illustrative $2,400, with a 0.1% fee each way. The buy fee takes $1, and $999 buys 0.41625 ETH.
You sell at $3,000, a 25% rise. The ETH sells for $1,248.75 and $1,247.50 comes back after the fee, a profit of $247.50, or +24.75%. Without fees it would have been $250. The quarter point went to the exchange.
Break-even is $2,404.81. Buying on chain through a wallet adds a gas fee on top, which this calculator does not count, and on a small trade gas can cost more than the trading fee.
The formula
ETH bought = amount × (1 − fee) ÷ buy price. You get back = ETH × sell price × (1 − fee). Profit = what you get back − amount. Break-even = buy price ÷ (1 − fee)².

Questions and answers
How do I calculate Ethereum profit?
Take the fee off what you put in, divide by the buy price to get your ETH, multiply by the sell price and take the sell fee off. Then subtract what you put in. $1,000 in at $2,400 and out at $3,000, with 0.1% fees, ends $247.50 up.
Is the gas fee included?
No. A trade on an exchange pays the exchange's fee, which is the fee here. Moving ETH on chain or swapping in a wallet costs gas, paid in ETH, and it changes with how busy the network is.
Is it Ether or Ethereum?
Ethereum is the network and ether, ETH, is its coin. People search for both and mean the same price.
Are taxes included?
No. The calculator covers trading fees only. Tax on crypto depends on where you live.
