Worked example
You put $1,000 into Bitcoin at an illustrative $80,000, with a 0.1% fee on each side. The buy fee takes $1, and $999 buys 0.0124875 BTC. That is 1,248,750 sats, the unit you see when you buy less than a whole coin. One sat is 0.00000001 BTC.
You sell at $90,000. The sale is worth $1,123.88, the fee takes $1.12, and $1,122.75 comes back. Profit is $122.75, or +12.28%, after $2.12 in fees.
To break even you need $80,160.24, not $80,000. At a 0.5% fee on each side that climbs to $80,806.04, so the price has to rise $806 before the trade earns anything.
The formula
BTC bought = amount × (1 − fee) ÷ buy price. You get back = BTC × sell price × (1 − fee). Profit = what you get back − amount. Break-even = buy price ÷ (1 − fee)².

How do I calculate Bitcoin profit?
Take the fee off what you put in, divide by the buy price to get your BTC, multiply by the sell price and take the sell fee off. Then subtract what you put in. $1,000 in at $80,000 and out at $90,000, with 0.1% fees, ends $122.75 up.
How many sats are in one Bitcoin?
100,000,000. One sat is 0.00000001 BTC, so 0.0124875 BTC is 1,248,750 sats.
Is the network fee included?
No. The fee here is the exchange's trading fee. Sending Bitcoin off the exchange costs a separate network fee, paid in BTC, and it changes with how busy the network is.
Are taxes included?
No. The calculator covers trading fees only. Tax on crypto depends on where you live.
