Worked example

You hold 1 lot on the preset of 1 contract per lot. One point of 1.0 is worth $1.00 a lot, so at your size it is worth $1.00.

A move of 150 points makes or costs $150.00. On 0.01 lot the same point is worth $0.01.

At an illustrative price of 46,000, a 1% move is 460 of price, worth $460.00 at your size.

The formula

Point value = point size × contract per lot × lots, in US dollars. A move is worth the point value times its size in points. A 1% move = price ÷ 100 ÷ point size × point value.

US30 is the CFD name for the Dow Jones Industrial Average, 30 large US companies. The form starts at 1 contract per lot and a point of 1.0, so one lot moves $1 for each point, and 0.1 is offered for brokers that quote a tenth of a point as the pip.
