Three White Soldiers Pattern on a Live Gold Chart
Three white soldiers are three long rising candles in a row. Each opens inside the body of the one before, closes above it, and ends near its own high. It is steady buying over three candles with no real pullback.
What it shows
Each one gets a blue label marked 3WS under the low of the third candle.
How Pravex works it out
- The three white soldiers rule never uses a fixed size: a body, open to close, is long when it beats the 14-candle exponential average of bodies and small when it falls short of it.
- All three candles must be rising (close above open) with long bodies, above the average, and a range above zero.
- The second and third candles must each open inside the body of the candle before (edges included) and close above that candle’s close.
- Every one of the three must close near its high: the upper shadow may be no more than 25% of the candle’s range.
- There is no trend test. The code checks the three candles wherever they form.

How traders read it
The pattern is persistence. One strong candle can be a single order; three strong candles in a row, each closing near its top, show buyers coming back hour after hour. Coming out of a range or off a low, that reads as the start of a trend rather than a lucky spike.
The risk is where you buy it. After three long candles, price is already well above where the move began, so a stop under the first candle’s low can be far away. Waiting for a pullback towards the third candle’s body is a calmer entry than buying the close.
When it misleads
With no trend test, the label also appears late in a long rise, where three big candles can be the last burst before a pause. Long only means above the 14-candle average, so after quiet hours three ordinary candles can pass. On spot gold the opens rarely sit far inside the previous body, because each candle usually opens at about the last close, and the code accepts that. A three white soldiers label on the newest candle is provisional: that candle has not closed, and the shape may stop holding before it does.
