Volume
Klinger Oscillator on Bitcoin
The Klinger Oscillator turns volume into a momentum line. It counts a candle’s volume as positive when the typical price rises and negative when it falls, then compares a fast average of that with a slow one.
The two EMAs average signed candle volume, and spot gold carries none, so the Klinger runs on Hyperliquid bitcoin.

What it shows
A blue Klinger line and a slower green signal wander around zero under the bitcoin candles, with no guide levels. Blue above zero means the 34-candle average of signed volume sits over the 55-candle one.
How Pravex works it out
- Typical price = (high + low + close) ÷ 3.
- Count each candle’s volume as positive when its typical price is at or above the previous candle’s, and negative when below. The first candle counts as negative.
- Klinger = a 34-candle EMA of that signed volume − a 55-candle EMA of it.
- The green signal = a 13-candle EMA of the Klinger line.
- One invented candle: volume 200 whose typical price fell from the one before counts as -200.

How traders read it
Above zero says volume has recently been flowing with rising typical prices. Below zero says it has flowed with falling ones. A cross of the zero line marks the point where the fast average passes the slow.
Blue over green says the signed volume is gaining on its own recent average; blue under green, losing. On hourly bitcoin those crosses come every day or two.
Divergence is the slower read. Bitcoin prints a new high, the Klinger a lower one, so the volume behind the latest leg is thinner than behind the last.
When it misleads
The sign comes only from whether the typical price rose or fell, so a tiny move up counts the full volume as positive. In a flat market the sign flips candle to candle and the line wanders around zero. The lengths 34, 55 and 13 are fixed in the code, so you cannot tune it for a fast timeframe. On bitcoin, a single liquidation spike dominates the averages for dozens of candles.
Questions and answers
Why does a tiny up move count the full volume?
The Klinger in Pravex only asks whether the typical price rose or fell, then signs the whole candle’s volume that way. A one-dollar rise on a heavy candle counts as much as a large one.
Can I change the Klinger Oscillator settings?
Not in the app. It shows no inputs, because the 34, 55 and 13 are fixed in the code.
Why is the Klinger so slow to turn?
Its fast average is already 34 candles long and the slow one 55. On hourly bitcoin that is about a day and a half against two days, so it reacts to shifts of a day or more, not to single spikes.
Klinger Oscillator vs Accumulation/Distribution?
Accumulation/Distribution multiplies volume by where the close sits in the candle’s range and keeps a running total. The Klinger signs the volume by the typical price move and compares two EMAs.
